We’re the Manhattan Libertarian Party

Established in 2000, The Manhattan Libertarian Party (MLP) promotes “smaller and smarter government,” limited government which performs its necessary functions efficiently and unobtrusively, so that individuals may enjoy the freedom to live as they choose so far as they do not impinge on others’ right to do likewise.  We strive for freedom from government rather than dependence on government.  We exalt individual liberty, personal responsibility, free economies, and we cherish peace.

We are dedicated to offering our fellow citizens and voters a third party electoral ballot alternative.  In 2010, ten candidates ran on the Libertarian line in the NYC city elections, and 8 more ran in 2013 . . . all overcoming the substantial petitioning obstacles and qualifying burdens imposed on all but the major party candidates.

The fundamental disarray made obvious by both major parties’ 2016 presidential primaries will likely produce nominees that a no majority wants.  We are convinced that we can present to rightly disillusioned and disaffected voters an alternative slate of candidates, who will show how America’s historic promise of universal justice, peace and prosperity can yet be fulfilled.

The National Libertarian Party was established in 1971. The party is organized in 50 states and there are over 135 Libertarians holding elected office — that’s more than all other third parties combined.

The Libertarian Party’s Statement of Principles says that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.
