About

Established in 2000, the MLP works to decrease the creeping of big government. We believe in freedom from, rather than dependence upon, the government. That’s because smaller government means more freedom.

We are dedicated to providing a third party alternative on the ballots. In fact, we ran 10 candidates in the 2001 NYC city elections. To learn more about our past elections, click here.

The National Libertarian Party was established in 1971. The party is organized in 50 states and there are over 300 Libertarians holding elected office — that’s more than twice as many as all other third parties combined.

The Libertarian Party’s Statement of Principles says that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.
