These must be challenging times — our legisators in Albany are planning to work a whopping 69 days this term — 6 more than in 2008. According to the Daily News’ Elizabeth Benjamin:
So lawmakers accustomed to bugging out of the Capitol on Tuesday or Wednesday will instead be sticking around until Thursday through much of February and March…
Don’t worry that legislators will be working too, too hard. They still get every single Friday off. They’re extending MLK weekend an extra day to encompass Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. They’re taking 11 days off for President’s week and 12 days off for Passover.
Plus, if recent history is any guide, they won’t be expected in Albany more than a few times from July to December.
Not bad for a base salary of $79,500 a year, plus leadership “lulus.”
