Save the Date (maybe) – TOMORROW: FEBRUARY 11: Dr. Jacob M. Appel on Polygamy, Incest & Bestiality in a Culture of Liberty

I only speak for myself via this Serf City Post (and not the MLP) when I wonder why Libertarians bother to investigate the philosophical minutiae of liberty in relation to polygamy, incest, and bestiality.

With deficit spending, excessive new taxes, corporatism and socialism’s war on capitalism, the brink of economic collapse in Europe, conspiracies of a New World Order, war with Iran, an internet Big Brother, and our very own NEW YORK CITY’S WELFARE AGENCIES ON A HIRING SPREE TO GIVE OUT MORE FREE STUFF!?  I have trouble understanding why Libertarians feel obliged to concern themselves with what seems the equivalent of “How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?”

All that said, GET EXCITED for a discussion with Dr. Appel on “polygamy, incest, and bestiality in a culture of Liberty” brought to you by the Libertarian Party of Queens.  Just make sure to leave your webcams at home.

BELOW IS A REPOST FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF QUEEN’S MEETUP GROUP about the upcoming event, tomorrow, on Saturday February 11th.

This is BIG!

Dr. Jacob M. Appel, a renowned Bioethicist and a physician at Mt. Sinai Hospital, has agreed to speak to the Libertarian Party of Queens County on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Bohemian Hall (in the downstairs Cellar Cafe) with respect to the issues of Polygamy, Incent & Bestiality and how they should be addressed in a Culture of Liberty.

Carl Person, a candidate for the Libertarian Party’s Presidential Nomination, recently classified “bestiality” as a victimless crime and many members of the Libertarian Party (the Party of Principle) blasted his position as anti-libertarian – but is it? Dr. Appel will address these issues and answer questions you may have. There is no greater expert in the field than Dr. Appel.

Jacob M. Appel, MD, JD, MPhil, MFA, is a professional bioethicist who contributes frequently to such academic publications as The Hastings Center Report, The Journal of Medical Ethics, The Journal of Clinical Ethics, The Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics and The Bulletin of the History of Medicine.  His commentary on issues related to the interstices of law, medicine and morality has also been featured in The New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, New Haven Register, Orlando Sentinel, Albany Times-Union, The Providence Journal and many other regional newspapers. He also writes regular bioethics columns for The Huffington Post and Opposing Views.  Jacob has recently held teaching appointments at Columbia University, New York University, Pace University and Brown University, where he was named Teacher of the Year by the undergraduate student body in 2003.  Jacob is a graduate of Brown University, Harvard Law School and Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.  He practices medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and previously practiced healthcare law in New York City and Rhode Island.  More at:  www.jacobmappel.com

Admission is FREE but we do literally pass the hat for contributions because of the continually increasing fee we are charged for the rental of the room.

This event will take place at Bohemian Hall (in the Cellar Cafe downstairs adjacent to the Restaurant) located at 29-19 24th Avenue in Astoria, New York. If you are driving, there is free street parking (easier to get if you come early). If you are coming by subway, take the “N” train to the Astoria Blvd. stop and walk one block. If you get lost, call Dr. Tom Stevens (LPQC Political Director) on his cell phone at [masked].

Check them out on MeetUp!
