Ron Paul May Endorse Bob Barr

It looks like Bob Barr is finally heeding the call of my typo-titled petition and will seek the Liberarian nomination for President. I think this is very good news. Barr is simply outstanding on a lot of libertarian issues, and he’s certainly libertarian on all the top issues of the day, like the the war and civil liberties.

That doesn’t mean he should give a pass, by any means. He has a dubious track record from his stint in Congress to account for, and he should fully and publicly account for it before he is considered for the nomination. But it’s in all of our best interest to give him  a fair hearing.

And as a bonus, a website is reporting that Ron Paul may endorse Barr’s candidacy, which would be wonderful but weird, since Paul is still officially a candidate himself.

In other LP presidential contender news, you may have heard that former Democratic Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel joined the Libertarian Party last week and declared his candidacy for the presidential nomination. I think that’s, um, nice, but just way beyond the pale. Not that Gravel doesn’t have a lot going for him. For leaking the Pentagon Papers alone, he’s an American hero. But his economic policies are about as unlibertarian as you can get.

When i first learned of Mr. Barr’s decision NOT to count the votes of the medical marijuana proposition i thought , ” what a dumb hillbilly ” . Coming from a backward State of Georgia where apparently marijuana is still
the ” Devils ” drug made me think twice as hard about the ignorance that comes out of the deep South . Now he’s changed his tune .
Let’s free everyone from our Jails for possessing Marijuana if you don’t still want to see yourself as another darn ignorant hillbilly that has never made no sense to me up until now . Marijuana is not the ” Devils ” drug , Mr. Barr . It is however the drugs you take which includes drinking your liquor and all those prescription pills that kill and cause health problems . IT IS NOT NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN MARIJUANA .

Ron Paul isn’t going to endorse some idiot that voted FOR the patriot act, FOR the illegal Iraq war, former CIA employee, former federal prosecutor (drug warrior).

Yeah, but Gravel supports eliminating the income tax. That’s pretty libertarian.

I gave $5,000 to the 1998 Washington, DC medical marijuana initiative that passed but was negated by Congressman Bob Barr’s lobbying the Congress to void the results.

Apparently, Robert Barr has recanted but I have yet to see in writing any criticism of the war on drugs which Barr for many terms was an enthusiastic zealot of the unconstitutional war on Americans whose peaceful & honest lifestyle includes marijuana.

Until then, Robert Barr CANNOT be the Libertarian candidate.

I will be supporting the candidacy of Mike Gravel for the Libertarian nomination, who is fully committed to legalizing marijuana and ending prohibition.
