McCain Staffer Tells Paul Supporters to “Get Lost”

As the Ron Paul Revolutionaries look forward to tonight’s epic debate on whether they should throw their support to McCain or Barr, the McCain camp has made it clear that Paul’s supporters aren’t welcome. Michael Goldfarb, neocon blogger at The Weekly Standard and deputy communications director for the McCain campaign, writes:

… but let me just say to Ron Paul supporters everywhere, and on behalf of the New Right (by which I assume Paul means the Jew Right), get lost. There should be plenty of room for the Paulnuts in Obama’s big tent.

Whole thing here. On the other hand, I’m certain the Bob Barr campaign would be happy to welcome the Revolutionaries home.

I would agree that I probably should have used the past tense “wrote” instead of “writes”. Even still, I don’t see how a grammatical error constitutes a lie, much less two lies. It was perfectly clear — especially given the context of the Ron Paul quote that Goldfarb was responding to — that he was saying Barr supporter were not welcome in the neocon movement nor in the McCain campaign. That McCain subsequently hired Goldfarb speaks volumes.

This statement appears to be a lie:

The statement was made today, June 4, 2008. Michael Goldfarb posted the quoted material on March 19, 2008, over two months ago. At that time Goldfarb was presumably not yet working for McCain, since his leave of absence from the Weekly Standard began on June 2. So there are two lies.
